Heat gun Embossing tips on...penmanship

Did you know that if you wanted to use your heat gun and embossing powder to write a personal message you can do that with a simple erasable ink pen?  You simply write or draw what you want, sprinkle some embossing powder over it, and use the heat gun to melt it onto the paper!  Since the erasable ink does not dry as quick as other pens, it holds the embossing powder. Why not take personalization to a new level?  And some of you have beautiful handwriting (unlike my chicken scratch)

You will need:

Embossing powder, gold, silver, black or blue work best

Heat gun for embossing

Erasable ink pen

Blank card and embellishments

Tacky glue, small paintbrush

1.     Draw, print, or write your message with an erasable ink pen.  Immediately sprinkle some embossing powder over the top and tap off the excess and funnel back into the jar.  Use a small paintbrush to brush away powder where you don’t want it to emboss.  Work in small sections, embossing with the heat gun as you go.

2.     After you have finished embossing your card, decorate with any small embellishments, jewels, pearls, etc.

This is not a project for children!  You can, if you desire, have the child write the message and then have an adult heat set it. Please be careful when using a embossing heat gun, it is very hot!!

HAPPY CREATING,
CRYSTAL

  1. I've never tried embossing anything and the last time I used a heat gun I was removing paint from the exterior of my garage and set it on fire. I'm a klutz so I'm going to pass on this one but I do like the Valentine. Obviously you're not a klutz. ;o)
