If you don’t have a lot of money to invest in decorating
your Christmas tree, why not recycle?
Although I have a varied assortment on my Christmas tree I bet an entire
tree with a ton of these snowball ornaments would be awesome! They are so easy and the hardest part is
waiting for the snow paint to dry. This week I'm focusing on easy ornaments so come back for more...christmas is almost upon us and quick and easy is the name of the game!
You will need:
Egg carton
Scissors
Dimensional glitter snow (It comes in a jar)
Masking tape
Gold or silver cord
Paintbrush or palette knife
Jingle bell for each snowball (optional)
Waxed paper or a pencil for drying the snowballs
1.
Cut two egg carton sections right at the area
where it turns into a bowl. (See photo)
2.
Line the two sections of egg carton
together. Trim it so it matches as closely as possible. It’s ok if there are small
open areas because you will be taping it together.
3.
Cut a Cut 6-inch a piece of silver cord, make a loop and using a
piece of masking tape attach to the inside of one of the sections. If desired place a jingle bell inside and
attach the two sections together with some additional masking tape.
4.
Apply some glitter snow all around the entire
snowball making sure you cover all the taped areas. Thread the loop through a pencil and securing
each end hang till dry. Optionally you
may dry the snowballs on waxed paper but when they are you may need to add some
additional snow the area where they were set down. Let the glitter snow dry completely and hang
on the tree.
Beautiful and simple idea! I have been saving a ton of egg cartons lately, could get an early start on these for next year :-) Thanks for sharing at Take It On Tuesday! ~Kelly @ Eyes On The Source
